chess composer Jindrich Sulc
Signed letter, dated 20 July 1959
sent to Czech composer Ilja Mikan
Typed letter with some handwritten notes and 4 stamped diagrams, signed at the end.
The letter is in Czech, begins „Vazeny priteli“ (= Dear friend) but from the content is clear that it is written to Ilja Mikan.
It is mostly about chess problems.
The letter also contains other information, such as that Mikan has 22,000 problem in the card file, why he has Russian first name Ilja etc.
Size: 30 x 21 cm.
Good or better: light/some general signs of use, horizontal centre fold.
Biographical data:
Jindrich Sulc (1911-1998), Czech composer, author of ca 140 endgame studies and 60 problems.
Ilja Mikan (1911-1979), Czech composer, a representative of the Bohemian Problem School, author of about 1200 problems. He was also book collector, noted problem theoretician and historian, author of many books and articles.
