DESCRIPTION

"De eerste Schaakmatch USA - USSR, 1945" by Hans Kmoch. Published in softback in circa 1945. No date. In Dutch language and algebraic notation. L/N 5142. First Edition. 44pp. The booklet is in Good Minus conditon for its age. The binding is tight and it is free of foxing. The pages have tanned strongly due to the poor quality paper available to use so soon after WW2. The covers are faded unevenly as though an object has been placed on the booklet for a considerable time at some point in the past. There are also tiny chips to the cover extremities and a pen squiggle on the rear cover (see scans). Internally the booklet is inscription free but it does have a rather "fragile" feel to it. A few of the internal pages have tiny "dog ear" creases to the corners. There is a previous owner's stamp on the title page and creases on both covers. Not in the best condition but still an iconic chess title that covers one of the great shocks in 1940s chess. USSR won decisively 15.5 - 4.5. Further scanned images are available on request. Postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £2.50. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. Any questions, please just ask.
