DESCRIPTION

Prazska zupa UJCS. Zpravy

Issues 151-200: February 1950 – March 1953

(complete volumes 7 + 8 in one book)

First time in our offer

Zprávy Prazske zupy UJCS, issues 151-200 (volumes 7+8).

Praha, 16. II. 1950 – 3. III. 1953. (From issue 153 titled „Zpravy prazskeho kraje sachoveho UJCS). Contemporary binding with no lettering. Mimeographed on cheap paper, 200 pages (numbered 601-800). Size ca 29 cm. 620 grams. In Czech. LN-, Di Felice-, CPL, Soukup (15) , Mokry 258 (volumes 1-5 only).

Good or better:  binding is OK. The first page is reinforced at the top with paper tape (picture). Some leaves show light traces of center fold. Pages are browned by age as usual (due to cheap paper), text is clean with no writings.

These issues 151 to 200 can be considered as volumes 7 and 8 of the Prague „Zpravy“. They are not so marked, but in the earlier volumes it was always the rule that 25 numbers = 100 pages = one volume.

The book contains news and results of competitions from Prague chess district (as well as from other districts of the Czechoslovak Chess Union), many crosstables of individual and team competitions, team lists, player information, etc. There are also 26 annotated games, numbered 321-346. Most of this information is hardly available from other sources. The magazine does not contain chess composition.

The magazine is published by master Karel Prucha and in this period it usually appears every two or three weeks. The volumes are complete, all 50 issues have been checked page by page.

This is first time these volumes appear in our offer. Several years ago I sold volumes 1, 2 and 3 at auction ( volume 1, volume 2, volume 3 )

I have never come across this magazine before. In fact, I thought the magazine ended with the fifth volume, published in 1948/1949. I did not even know there was a 7th and 8th volume until now.

The Prague „Zpravy“ is a local chess magazine of Prague chess region, mimeographed on cheap paper, published without covers weekly or bi-weekly in 1945-1953 (and later?). One issue has 4 pages of large size.
