"The Semmering-Baden Tournament, 1937" by B.H. Wood. Published in red hardback by 'CHESS, Sutton Coldfield' in 1937. First Edition. Betts 27-132. 54pp, stencilled on rectos only. The book is in Good Plus condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean although discoloured along the spine and the top of the front board (where another book may have been placed for a period of time). The page edge blocks are lightly and evenly tanned from age. Internally there is a previous owner's signature and date on the front endpaper plus several penned corrections and annotations on several internal pages (see scans) The internal pages are all very clean and unmarked and it is obvious that this volume has been very well cared for over the years.The quality of the transcript printing is poor by modern standards but very quaint. I do not think the printing has faded materially over the years as there is a slip bound in at the beginning of the book which apologises for the shortcomings of the book's poor printing and explaining the difficulties that they had experienced in getting "multigraphed" paper. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Rare. Never before listed on LSAK. Further scanned images are available on request.
