"The Australasian Chess Review, 1939" edited by Cecil Purdy. Published in maroon hardback by the ACR in 1939. First Edition. 320pp. Includes index. Betts 7-70. All twelve issues of the ACR for the calendar year of 1939. Volume 11. The book is in Good Plus condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean although there are a couple of superficial scratch marks on them and the binding is starting to split at the head and tail of the spine (see scans). The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is still readable. The top two board tips have superficial loss. The page edge blocks are tanned but this appears to be from age, not handling, as the tanning is even throughout. There is an old ownership reference on the front endpaper and a pencil note on the rear endpaper. Aside from these, the volume appears to be inscription, annotation and foxing free. There are a couple of pages at the start and end of the book that have mild staining (see scans) but the vast majority of the (semi-glossy) pages are in very clean, unmarked condition. Games and positions are given in English descriptive notation. Scarce. Seldom listed on LSAK. Further scanned images are available on request. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
