"The Australasian Chess Review, 1937" edited by Cecil Purdy. Published in maroon hardback by the ACR in 1937. First Edition. 360pp. Includes index. Betts 7-70. All twelve issues of the ACR for the calendar year of 1937. Volume 9. The book is in Very Good condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean although there are a couple of superficial scratch marks on them and the head and tail of the spine have bumping damage (see scans). The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is still readable. The bottom two board tips have superficial loss and are bent inwards. The page edge blocks are lightly tanned but this appears to be from age, not handling, as the tanning is even throughout. Internally the volume presents very well. The endpapers are age-tanned but the remainder of the book (with semi-glossy paper) is very clean and unmarked apart from the very occasional speck stain or two (see final scan). The volume appears to be inscription, annotation and foxing free. Games and positions are given in English descriptive notation. Scarce. Seldom listed on LSAK.
