"Besidka Delnickych listu" is a weekly supplement to the daily newspaper "Delnicke listy." (it means „The Workers’ Papers”). Although this newspaper was published in Vienna, it was not in German, but in Czech. A comprehensive chess column, often covering a full page, appeared in "Besidka" from 00/04/1909-14/08/1914. Over the six years of publication, a total of 408 problems and 171 games were published, along with numerous news and articles. The column was founded in April 1909 by Jan (Johann) Kotrc,. From the beginning of 1912, the editorship was taken over by Evzen Klempfner (vice-chairman of the Czech Chess Association in Vienna) and Vl. Nemec. Karel Traxler, Kotrc’s brother-in-law, also took part in running the column.
