The chief editor throughout was N V Krylenko with an editorial board consisting of N D Grigoriev, B S Levman, I L Maizelis and several others.
Initially the official organ and publication of the Chess and Checkers section of the Higher and Moscow Councils of Physical Culture, this periodical later became the organ of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions.
