The biography of a little-known Czech chess player, composer and official was published in the Proceedings of the Dr. Bohuslav Horak Museum in Rokycany. Antonin Klir (1864–1939) was a chess composer in the spirit of the Czech problem school, as well as a chess official. He served for a long time as chairman of the first proper Czech chess club, the Cesky spolek sachovni, and briefly in 1908 as chairman of the Czech Chess Association. In addition to his involvement in chess, he was highly successful in his profession as a civil engineer. Alongside the biography, 30 of Klir’s problems are presented, as well as photographs, mostly from the family archive.
