A detailed biography of the best Czech player before World War I, Oldrich Duras, from his early beginnings to earning the master title at the Barmen tournament in 1905. Includes many games, previously unpublished. At the end of the book, there are also 26 chess problems composed by Duras. The second volume, covering Duras's career after 1905, has not yet been published.
