Biography of the little-known Czech chess player of Jewish origin, Lev (Leo) Taussig (1884–1944), published in the Proceedings of the Dr. Horak Museum in Rokycany. Lev Taussig played chess actively until 1914. After World War I, he only played sporadically and mainly focused on his medical career and scientific research. In 1944, he died in the Auschwitz concentration camp. His greatest chess achievement was second place at the first official Czech championship held in Prague in 1905, behind the winner Oldrich Duras.
