A compilation of writings by various authors on the origins of chess, chess-related mathematical curiosities, and chess mythological philosophy.

The author, Pavle Bidev (1912–1988), was a strong Yugoslav/Macedonian chess player, four-time winner of the Macedonian Chess Championship, as well as a philosopher, historian, and orientalist. He leaned toward the theory that the historical origin of chess lies in China.

Condition - Still Good: cover is slightly soiled and stained. A label with the title is affixed to the spine.There is an author's inscription dated March 29, 1987, on the title page. An ex-libris label is on the inside of the front cover. Confusing pagination in the German section between pages 5 and 16. The book block is uncut. Handwritten notes on pages 170, 187, and 258.
