The original preface by Soviet politician, jurist, and chess official N. V. Krylenko (1885–1938) has been removed from this copy. Krylenko, who played a key role in organizing the tournament, was later executed during Stalin’s Great Purge. His name and preface were systematically removed from all unsold copies - this is one such example.
Condition - Fair: binding soiled and stained. Handwritten numbers on the front endpaper. Krylenko’s name blacked out in three places and his preface (pages 7–10) removed. Paper yellowed with age.
