Description

"CHESS, Sutton Coldfield. Volume 4" edited by B.H. Wood. Published in brown hardback by 'CHESS, Sutton Coldfield' in 1939. 450 large pages. Includes index. The volume contains all twelve issues of this iconic magazine for the dates of Sept 1938 - August 1939 (Issue Numbers 37 to 48, inclusive). The volume is in Very Good condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards have a couple of tiny dinks to extremities and tips but are still very clean and presentable. The head of the spine is a little worn (see scan). The gilt lettering on the spine is still strong. The page edge blocks are quite heavily tanned (particularly the top edge, as usual). Internally the volume is in Very Good condition and appears to inscription and annotation free. I have noted a couple of pages that have mild foxing but the vast majority of the pages are unaffected. No vertical crease from having been in the post. The January 1939 issue is a mini-booklet dedicated to the recently concluded A.V.R.O. tournament. A lovely volume for any chess book collector's library. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Condition Rating: 8/10. Any questions, please just ask.

CUSTOMERS IN THE GB AREA CAN STILL AVAIL OF SHIPPING DIRECT GB - GB AS I CAN SHIP (VIA 'ROYAL MAIL') FROM NORTHERN IRELAND, ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT DELAY IN POSTING. CUSTOMERS IN THE USA AND THE RoW WILL HAVE THEIR ORDER SHIPPED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (VIA 'AN POST', AS ABOVE).
