Description

A rare opportunity to acquire a very good condition, uniformly bound series of Vols 1-10 of "CHESS, Sutton Coldfield". These volumes consist of:

1. Volume 1 (1935-36, magazine issue numbers 1-12). 476pp. Bound in blue hardback with gilt lettering on the spine. Boards protected by a removable see-through. Binding very good. Page edge blocks tanned, particularly the top edge. Spine area slightly faded.
Previous owner's bookplate on the inside of the front board. Cover page of first magazine bound in. Title page present. Index included. Contents very clean and unmarked. Lovely glossy paper used in magazines publication. Overall condition: VG.
2. Volume 2 (1936-37, magazine issue numbers 13-24). 463pp. Same details as Volume 1.
3. Volume 3 (1937-38, magazine issue numbers 25-36). 444pp. Same details as Volume 2.
4. Volume 4 (1938-39, magazine issue numbers 37-48). 450pp. Same details as Volume 3.
5. Volumes 5 and 6 (1939-41, magazine issue numbers 49-72). 274pp + 192pp. A few pages have light creasing to note, otherwise same details as Volume 4.
6. Volumes 7 and 8 (1941-43, magazine issue numbers 73-96). 188pp + 200pp. Index pages and Volume 8 magazine pages are browned but still semi-glossy to the touch. Otherwise, same details as Volumes 5 and 6.
7. Volumes 9 and 10 (1943-45, magazine issue numbers 97-120). 200pp + 210pp. Pages to both volumes have browned but are still semi-glossy to the touch. All magazines have a strong vertical crease from having been in the mail, back in the 1940s. No title page to Vol 10. Otherwise, same details as Volumes 7 and 8.
