Scoresheet Lajos Steiner – Ludvik Stepan from a simul, played on 4 January, 1931.
The scoresheet has a header of chess club Charousek in Kosice (Slovakia). The scoresheet is written in pencil in Stepan’s hand, signed by Lajos Steiner. Size ca 22.5 x 12.5 cm. 10 grams
Good to very good: light traces of horizontal center fold.
Stepan won after 50 moves.
The simul was played immediately after the Christmas tournament in Kosice, which took place from December 26, 1931 to January 3, 1932. Lajos Steiner took third place (Opocensky won).
Biographical data:
Lajos Steiner (1903-1975), strong Hungarian-Australian master. Hungarian champion in 1931 and 1936, he played for Hungary 4x in Olympiads. In 1939 he emigrated to Australia. 4x Australian champion between 1945-1959. Lajos was younger brother of Endre Seiner (1901-1944), also chess master.
Ludvik Stepan (1904-1971), Czech problem composer, author of more than 100 problems (mainly self- and helpmates). The 10th volume of Mikan's "Galerie ceskoslovenskych skladatelu, volume 10: Ludvik Stepan" (Praha 1972) is devoted to him.
