most probably to Bedrich Formanek

dated Warszawa, March 28, 1953

 

Close to very good: light signs of use.

1 sheet size 21 x 12 cm

The letter begins "Szanowny Panie!” (= Dear Sir).

The addressee of this letter was Slovak chess composer Bedrich Formanek. Formanek's name is not mentioned directly here, but it is clear from the context, as the author writes several times about the chess column in the newspaper Praca, where Formanek was editor from 1952 to 1956.

Biographical data:

Marian Wrobel (1907-1960), Polish chess problem composer, author of 1,000+ problems, he was considered as one of the best composers in the world. Author of several books.

Bedrich Formanek (1933-2023), Slovak chess problem composer, author of many hundreds of problems. He wrote more than 10 books and edited more than 7,000 chess columns in various newspapers. President of the Permanent Commission of the FIDE for Chess Compositions (PCCC) in 1994-2002.
