(This means: University professor MUDr. Leo Taussig - physician, chess player, important personality of Podbrdsko).
It contains:
- detailed life and family biography of Leo Taussig
- one game from 1908
- career record 1905-1912
- 7 mostly unpublished photos
- bibliography
Leo Taussig, a prominent Czech physician, was one of the best Czech chess players after 1900. His greatest success was the second place at the First Congress of the UJCS (Czech Chess Union) in Prague in 1905 behind Oldrich Duras. His chess career fell into the years 1900-1914, after which he was only sporadically involved in chess.
This article brings a lot of new information about him and his family. Taussig was of Jewish origin and died in the Oswiecim (Auschwitz) concentration camp in 1944 .
Between 1988 and 2018, the Rokycany Museum published 30 books on various topics. Only three of them contain articles on chess. All three are offered in our current auction.
