Description

Bruderküsse und Freudentränen. Eine Kulturgeschichte der Schach-Olympiaden.

With around 150 participating countries, the Chess Olympiads are now among the top three sports events in the world. 'Universal Chess Festival', 'Festival of Nations' or 'Chess Festival' are just a few of the paraphrases for that event, whose history goes back to a 1924 tournament in Paris. With reference to Olympic values, their organizers, the world chess federation FIDE, embraced a great idea. This was mainly embodied by the players themselves, in whose countless clashes commentators sometimes observed 'brother kisses and tears of joy'.

A walk through Chess Olympiads. Many photos. Some diagrams. Mostly text with a few games. 420 pages. Paperback. Papyrossa Verlag 2008.

Condition: Slight use. VG.
