Description

The Kemeri 1937.

Group photo from tournament. The photo shows the participants of the tournament. 17cm*12cm, mounted on card board.

The Kemeri 1937 chess tournament took place in Jūrmala, Latvia, from June 16 to July 8, and was one of the most prestigious events of the 1930s. It featured many of the world’s strongest players, including Salo Flohr, Reuben Fine, Samuel Reshevsky, and Paul Keres. The tournament ended in a three-way tie for first place between Flohr, Fine, and Keres, each scoring 13½ points out of 21. This result marked a major breakthrough for the young Estonian Paul Keres, who established himself as one of the leading contenders for the world championship.
