Description

"The World Chess Championship, 1948" by Harry Golombek. Published in hardback by George Bell in 1949. First Edition. 226pp. Betts: 25-183. The book is in Very Good condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The page edge blocks are tanned from age (the top edge darkened, as usual) and have mild, sporadic foxing present that does not extend onto any text pages. The silver lettering on the spine is still strong. The boards are very clean. Internally the book is in very good condition, clean and unmarked. The internal pages have tanned a little from age but are all very clean. The book is inscription, annotation and foxing free. The dustjacket is in Good Plus condition. It has some depredations, as follows: 1. A small area of loss at the head of the spine. 2. A tiny area of loss at the tail of the spine. 3. Superficial loss to the dustjacket on the lower spine area and the lower front panel area. 4. Discolouration along the spine. 5. Tiny chips and tears. 6. Price-clipped on the front flap with pen entry ("E.12"). 7. Mild age-tanning throughout. See scans. Despite these depredations this is an above average example of the dustjacket usually seen on this volume as the dustjacket was notoriously fragile from the poorer quality of paper available so relatively soon after WW2. The dustjacket is now protected by a removable see-through. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Condition Rating: Book: 7.5/10. Dustjacket: 6.5/10. Any questions, please just ask.
