Sachove noviny 1931 (all published)
Czech fortnightly in Prague
in original publisher’s binding
contains also 170 endgame studies by F. J. Prokop
LN 5991
Sachove noviny 1931.
Praha, self-edition of F. J. Prokop, 1931. original publisher’s green-blue binding. 96 pages (12 issues) = all published. Size 30 cm. 510 grams. In Czech. LN 5991, Soukup 12, Mokry 246, di Felice 2074.
Good or better: binding is tight, it is a little soiled. The outer joint between the spine and the back cover is torn in two places. Pages 37-40 are a little stained (nothing serious). Otherwise, text is clean with no writings.
Complete volume - numbers 1-12, title not issued, index is on p.95. No plates were published. The magazine was published in newspaper-like style without covers.
The magazine ran from January 1 to June 6, 1931.
The magazine appears only rarely. As far as I know, this is the first time it has been offered in the original publisher’s binding.
This hard-to-find magazine contains, among others:
- the complete collection of F. J. Prokop‘s 170 endgame studies
- detailed reports on tournaments in Hastings 1930/31, Goteborg 1931, match Stoltz-Flohr Goteborg 1931, Second match Flohr – Stoltz Prague 1931, Kautsky memorial Prague 1931, Brno championship 1931, Prague championship 1931, Prague pre-olympic tournament 1931, Praha Army tournament 1931
- photos, a few biographical sketches of Czech players – Mrazik, Skalicka, Rasovsky
- a lot of news, some problems etc.
Most articles are in Czech, however occasionally appear articles in English, German, French or Russian.
The magazine was checked page by page.
