Statni pedagogicka knihovna (Brno Pedagogic Library, since 1993 renamed to Moravska zemska knihovna) is the second-biggest public library in the Czech Republic and the biggest public library on chess. The library catalog contains 2395 items, divided into 5 main sections by themes: chess theory, chess praxis, problem chess, others, periodicals. Within these sections are items divided into chapters:

1. Chess theory (items 1-790) - manuals, opening, middle game, endgame
2. Chess praxis (items 791-1733) - tournaments, olympiads, matches, Czechoslovak championships, Soviet championships, biographies, collections of games
3. Problem chess (items 1734-1961)
4. Others (items 1962-2260) - history of chess, yearbooks/calendars, bibliography, rules, methodic materials, correspondence chess, checkers, psychology of chess, others
5. Periodicals (items 2261-2395) - chess periodicals, chess columns in non-chess magazines

FedEx/UPS provides insurance up to approx. €100. For higher values, we cover 50% of the total amount, while the remaining 50% is at the recipient’s own risk.

Alternatively, small items (up to 2 kg) can be sent as an ordinary letter without insurance or tracking. In that case, payment in advance is required and shipment is at your own risk (in case of loss, no compensation would be provided). Ask for postage.
