This book is dedicated to the memory of the great Russian chess player Alexander Alekhine.
The first part presents the correspondence games that Alekhine played in his youth.
The second part tells the story of Aleksandr Tikhomirov, editor of the magazine Russian Correspondence Chess, and includes a number of his correspondence games completed in 1996.
The book also contains selected games by other correspondence players, including many strong masters: V. Lyubimov, M. Botvinnik, V. Ragozin, A. Konovalov, A. Gromov, and others. These games were taken from the journals Correspondence Chess, Chess USSR, Chess in the USSR, New Siberia, Sports Arena, and several foreign sources.
This is the most complete study of Alekhine’s correspondence chess legacy to date. It includes rare archival materials, corrects previous errors, and clarifies historical uncertainties. The work continues the large and meticulous research efforts of earlier scholars.
The book has localized damage in the form of small puncture marks, as if something sharp pressed into the pages and left tiny holes.
