Schachmatnyj Listok 1922. Organ Petrogradskoj Schachmatnogo Sobranie. Chess Leaflet. Organ of the Petrograd Chess Assembly. No. 1-14 and no 1-4 of Schachmatnyj Listok, krasnoy gazety 1922. L/N 6325. Sakharov 934 and New Sakharov 1848. Felice 2409 and 2410.
In 1921 the publication that later became Shakhmatny Listok began as a small chess leaflet issued by the Petrograd chess club. The first issue appeared on 20 April 1921 and consisted of a single printed sheet with games and short notes. It was published frequently throughout the year, roughly every week, and served mainly a local chess audience.
In August 1922 the leaflet was renamed Shakhmatny Listok and developed into a more formal chess periodical (no. 1-14). Its format expanded, publication became more regular, and its role shifted from a local club bulletin to an official chess journal, laying the groundwork for its later national significance. Circulation was as low as 200-300 ex. (Sakharov).
