In the book Vlastimil Hort analyses 38 of his own games, which he considers the most interesting. The title means The World of the Warrior.

In addition, half of these games are also annotated by top Czech and Slovak players such as Navara, Ftacnik, Hracek, Stohl and others. A separate chapter, written by GM Robert Cvek, covers in about 50 pages the openings, which GM Hort had in his repertoire.

Vlastimil Hort, born 1944, 6 times champion of Czechoslovakia and 3 times champion of (West) Germany, in the second half of the sixties and in the seventies was one of the best players in the world. He emigrated to Germany after the 1985 Sousse Interzonal Tournament, where he now lives, but returns to the Czech Republic regularly. He has played in many Olympiads, including Luzern 1982, where he played on the First board and Czechoslovakia finished second.
