London, 1883/84. Contemporary half-leather, spine lettered. IV (=title, index) + 380 pages. Size ca 23.5 cm. The weight 870 grams. LN 6138, Betts 7-25. In English. Code 11534.

Good:  spine somewhat rubbed at the bottom, binding a little rubbed. The title page has a pen note and several interesting ownership stamps: J. Dobrusky (at the top, difficult to read), Cesky spolek sachovni v Praze (Czech Chess Union in Prague), Sachovni klub Dobrusky (Chess Club Dobrusky), Frantisek Moucka. The pages are clean, with sporadic pen or crayon notes.

Complete volume 5, numbers 1-12, including title/index. No plates were published in this volume. Covers are not bound in.

The Chess Monthly was published in London between 1879 and 1896 by Leopold Hoffer, together with J. H. Zukertort until 1888.

The magazine was checked page by page.
