Chess Monthly 1888/89.
London, 1888/89. Contemporary halfcloth, spine lettered. IV (=title, index) + 380 pages. Size ca 23.5 cm. The weight 890 grams. LN 6138, Betts 7-25. In English. Code 11537.
Fair to good: corners a little, edges somewhat rubbed. Covers somewhat stained/soiled. The cloth on the top of the front cover is starting to loosen (could be repaired). The stamp of the previous owner (chess composer and collector Ilja Mikan) is whitened on the inner cover. The endpapers are somewhat stained/soiled. In text clean, sporadically small pencil or crayon marks.
Complete volume 10, numbers 1-12, including title/index. No plates were published in this volume. Covers are not bound in.
The Chess Monthly was published in London between 1879 and 1896 by Leopold Hoffer, together with J. H. Zukertort until 1888.
