Description

Alexander Alekhine (1892-1946)

Autograph letter signed

to Bohumil Penizka, President of the Czechoslovak Chess Union

regarding the Chess Olympiad Prague 1931

signed and dated Paris 23/VI 1931

Good to very good: light/some general signs of use, no flaws. On the top of the first page, there is a note "Ubytovani" (= Accommodation), written in Czech by another person.

The letter is written in French on two sheets of paper, which are joined at the top with paper tape.

The complete text can be seen in the pictures.

The letter begins "Monsieur le Président“. Penizka's name is not mentioned directly, but it is almost certain that the letter was written to him. In addition to being the chairman of the UJCS, Penizka was also one of the main organizers of the 1931 Olympiad in Prague. Among other things, he was responsible for correspondence with individual participants and teams.
