Uri Avner:

Close Encounters With The Chess Pieces

Bratislava 2021

157 Avner’s best chess problems

Avner, Uri: Close Encounters With The Chess Pieces.

Bratislava, a2, 2021. Orig. hardcover. 186 pages. 1st edition. Size ca 22 cm. The weight 500 grams. In English + figurine notation.

New book.

Author's selection of his 157 best chess compositions with detailed explanatory comments (13 two-movers, 15 three-movers, 3 moremovers, 39 helpmates, 52 selfmates and 35 fairy problems).

In the whole history of chess composition, there have been less than hundred Grandmasters. Israeli chess composer Uri Avner (1941-2014) was definitely one of the very best, especially in the selfmate genre (the only one who won 4x the first place in the World Chess Composition Tournament).

Edited by Jacques Rotenberg and Raffi Ruppin, problem comments by Kjell Widlert. Book code 10440.
