About the Author:
Manuel Márquez Sterling (1872-1934) was a Cuban diplomat, journalist, and politician. He was born in Lima, Peru, and later moved to Cuba. He had a diverse career, serving as a journalist, diplomat, and even briefly as the interim President of Cuba for six hours in 1934. He was also an avid chess player and participated in the Paris 1900 chess tournament.
