Description

Hollis and Carter, London, 1952, hardback, 428p., 700 grams, 32 drawings of the great and not so great masters, 77 annotated games in descriptive notation, a reading copy without notes,

Intelligent, well written, full of historical relavant information on the great masters of the time. Written in a light, entertainig style by one of the most respected players in Europe at that time. A little jewel of chess literature.

In this -his magnum opus-, Edward Lasker (1885-1981) allows us to experience a bygone era. "I must admit," he confesses, "that chess has been directly or indirectly the source of much happiness to me, and I should probably be grateful for this to my great namesake, Emanuel Lasker.
