Description

Amsterdam, Universiteitsbibliotheek, 1988, introduction in the Dutch language, paperback, 17x24 cm, 320 pp., 670 grams, condition: good (the cover has a beige shadow/stain, see 1st photo).

Alexander Rueb (1882-1959) was a lawyer, chess organizer and one of the founders of the FIDE. He was president of the Dutch Chess Federation (1923-1928) and the first president of FIDE (1924-1949). After his death his library - 2200 books and 1000 periodicals - was given on loan to the Library of the University of Amsterdam. A catalogue of the collection was published in 1988, also recording donations of Euwe and library property on chess (in total: 3743 entries).
