(Praha, 1928. Three large folded sheets inserted into each other. Size ca 33 x 21 cm. 50 grams. In Czech.
Good or better: the edges of the sheets are a little/somewhat creased, otherwise light/some general partial signs of use.
Each of these three sheets has text only on the front side.
The heading of the first page reads: Participants / in the simultaneous production / of Master / Frank J. Marshall / in Prague, October 5, 1928. Below this, there are signatures of approximately 35 participants in the simultaneous production (Figure 1).
The second sheet is titled Clenove (Members). It is signed by 20 persons, including Frank Marshall, Bedrich Fuchs, Salo Flohr, and others.
The third sheet is titled Hoste (Guests). It is signed by 27 persons, including Bohumil Penizka, Dr. Adolf Seitz, Dr. Mrazik, J. Pelikan, Frantisek Treybal, Dr. Zoltan Vecsey, Dr. Karel Skalicka, Dr. Koliandr, and in the right column: Frank Marshall, Josef Rejfir, Richard Reti, Rudolf Reti, and others.
Each image is shown twice: first a scan and then a photograph.
Some biographical data:
Frank J. Marshall (1877-1944), U.S. Chess Champion from 1909 to 1936, one of the world's strongest players in the first quarter of the 20th century. Great tactician, author of several variations in opening theory.
Richard Reti (1889 Pezinok, today’s Slovakia - 1929 Prague), in the 1920s one of the best chess players in the world. Together with Tartakower and Breyer, one of the founders of hypermodernism in chess. Reti was also an excellent composer of studies.
Rudolf Reti (1885-1957), noted music composer and pianist. Older brother of Richard Reti.
Salo Flohr (1908-1983), Czechoslovak, later Soviet GM, one of the top players in 1930s, World championship candidate.
Josef Rejfir (1909-1962), one of the strongest Czech players before wws. He played on 7 Chess olympiads: 5x between 1928-1938, and then in 1956 and 1958.
Bohumil Penizka (1873-1939), chairman of the Czechoslovak Chess Union (UJCS) 1909-1913 and 1925-1939, honorary member of FIDE (1931), chess organizer (Prague chess olympiad 1931 etc.).
Bedrich (Friedrich) Fuchs – Czech chess player, a founder and the first president of the Marshall Chess Club of Prague. He was also a member of Marshall Chess club in New York.
