Description

Rudolf Svoboda - collection of ca 2,000 of his problems

in 10 handwritten books with stamped diagrams.

Svoboda, Rudolf + Svoboda Rudolf, jr: Sachove ulohy Rudolfa Svobody, Svazek 1-10.

(Praha), self edition, no date. 10 hardcover books with text on plastic tape pasted to the spine. Uniformly bound. Handwritten text with stamped diagrams. Size ca 23 x 14.5 cm. 7,600 grams. In Czech.

Good to very good: bindings are tight. Volume 1 has two small tears at the top of spine and the rear outer joint is torn. Otherwise light signs of use, pages are clean.

The first eight volumes are written by Rudolf Svoboda. Volumes 9 and 10 were compiled and written by his son Rudolf junior after Rudolf Svobod’s death.

The set contains about 2,000 chess problems of Rudolf Svoboda, published from 14/12 1913 to his death. Some of them were published posthumously.

The collection contains mostly selfmates (more than 1,000). The others are problems of various other types (mostly orthodox ones).

This a unique, one-of-a-kind collection, which is only available in this manuscript and was never published in a book form.

Biographical data:

Rudolf Svoboda (1885-1948), Czech chess composer. Author of more than 2,000 problems, mainly selfmates. He won 24 prizes in problem tournaments, including 9 first prizes.
