Howard Staunton
The Chess-Player’s Handbook. A Popular and Scientific Introduction to the Game of Chess…

London: Bell & Daldy, 6 York Street, Covent Garden, and 186 Fleet Street, 1867.

8vo. Title-page. With numerous diagrams in the text illustrating games and positions.

New Edition. A later issue of Staunton’s highly influential manual, first published in 1847 and long regarded as one of the foundational English-language works on chess. This edition reflects the continued popularity and authority of the text in the mid-19th century, incorporating practical examples from master play alongside theoretical instruction.

Condition: Very well preserved overall. Binding sound and solid; spine intact. Occasional light pencil markings, easily erasable, not affecting the text or diagrams. Some light browning and minor signs of use, as usual.

Pages: around 520

Weight: 520 gr
