Albin, Adolph. Schach - Aphorismen und Reminiszenzen. Chess - Aphorisms and Reminiscences. Hanover, self-published, (1899). One plate with a portrait of the author and a few diagrams. 3 leaves, 112 pages. Original dark red linen with embossed chessboard on front cover and gilted title. Gilted edges. L/N 4278; Kieler Schach Katalog 1856.

With a handwritten dedication by the author, September 1900 on the flyleaf. The Romanian master and theorist A. Albin (1847-1920) had some strong appearances in tournaments and introduced the Countergambit named after him into tournament practice around 1890. This edition contains entertaining chess aphorisms, some tournament games by Albin (including those from the tournaments in Dresden 1892, New York 1893, and Hastings 1895), the "Chess Comedy of Nuremberg," and end positions. Interior browned. Rare edition.
