Description

Pachman, Ludek.  Velikonocni mistrovsky sachovy turnaj v Praze 1943. Praha, publisher not stated, 1944. In Czech. 28,5 cm. Program of the tournament (4 pages, 21 cm), title page, VIII, 32 pages, 1 separate sheet with index (25 cm). Not in LN. Not in Soukup. Mokry 149.

The book contains all games from the tournament with commentary by Ludek Pachman. Unlike other variants, it also includes the program and a detailed report on the thematic tournament (King's Gambit) held after the main event. Additionally, two extra leaves were published containing the index and errata list, which are missing in most copies. The present copy includes a loosely inserted index.

This is the rarest of the four Pachman books about the tournament. While the book was printed on cheap paper, the cover and the program are on higher-quality paper. The program is bilingual in Czech and German (not in LN, not in Soukup; Mokry 145).

The tournament was won by Alekhine, ahead of Keres and Katetov.

Condition - Good: Private cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine and original cover bound in. The original cover is somewhat soiled, with small tears at the bottom of the rear. Previous owner's signature on the title page. A few creases. Paper is browned with age.
