A. D. Philidor (1726–1795) was the greatest master of the 18th century. His book "L'Analyse du jeu des Echecs," in which he published his insights into chess strategy, appeared as early as 1749.

Condition: Privately bound. Front lid partly loose. From David DeLucia's chess library. Inscribed on the front flyleaf by Walker. Autographed letter laid in.
