Description

"Rubinstein's Chess Masterpieces" by Hans Kmoch. Published in hardback by David McKay in 1941. First Edition. 192pp. Betts 29-126. The book is in near Very Good condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The top edge block has dust discolouration but the other two are clean. The boards are clean. The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is still readable. The gilt lettering on the front board is still strong. Internally there is a name and short note (dated 1942) in pen on the front endpaper. Aside from this, the book appears to be inscription, annotation and foxing free. The pages have very light age-tanning but this is to be expected in a book published during WW2. The dustjacket is in Good Plus condition for its age. It has very small areas of loss to the head and tail of the spine (see scans) plus a closed tear on the rear panel. There is also a very small area of loss to the rear panel, up in the top left hand corner. The top edge of the front panel has mild crinkling. The spine area is lightly age-tanned. The dustjacket is now protected by a removable see-through sleeve.  Book Condition: 7.5/10. Dustjacket Condition: 7/10. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. A nice copy of a sought after chess book. Postage extra, from either the Republic of Ireland (via 'An Post') or from Northern Ireland (via 'Royal Mail'). Any questions, please just ask.
