David Navara (born 27 March 1985) is a Czech grandmaster and for many years has been the strongest Czech player of world-class level. His highest rating was 2751 in May 2015. He has won the Czech Championship thirteen times (2004, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and is also a three-time European Blitz Champion (2014, 2022 and 2023). Navara has achieved many successes in team competitions and won the European Club Cup with his club Nový Bor in 2013, 2022 and 2024. He is popular at tournaments for his modest behaviour and his reputation for fair play.
