The postcard was published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Bohemians Prague Chess Club's founding in 1989.
Vlastimil Jansa (born 1942) is a Czech chess player and International Grandmaster. He was national champion in 1964, 1974, 1984, and narrowly missed the title again in 1994, losing the tiebreak match to Zbynek Hracek. In 1963 he was a member of the Czechoslovak team that won the World Student Championship in Budva. Between 1964 and 1986 he represented the national team at ten Chess Olympiads, achieving his greatest success at the 1982 Lucerne Olympiad, where Czechoslovakia finished second behind the Soviet Union. In 2018, he became World Senior Champion in the 65+ category.
