It is not a conventional bibliography but an exhibition catalogue documenting a major chess bibliographic exhibition organized from the collection of José Paluzíe y Lucena, one of Spain’s most important chess historians and problem composers. The collection had been donated to the library by Mercedes Borrell, Paluzíe’s widow, and the exhibition was held in March 1940, though the catalogue itself was printed a few years later. The catalogue lists and describes rare and important chess books, manuscripts, studies, and related works from Paluzíe’s collection. Its purpose was to preserve and present the scholarly value of one of Spain’s most significant private chess libraries, offering bibliographical details for researchers and collectors.
