Description

Leaves of Chess was a small American chess journal published in New York from 1957 to about 1961 by O. Southard. It focused on chess history, rare literature, and the cultural side of the game rather than tournament news or strategy instruction. The magazine was known for reprinting obscure historical material and for including some early Bobby Fischer games and annotations, which gives certain issues collector interest today. Though its circulation was small, it was highly regarded by chess enthusiasts and is remembered as a thoughtful, scholarly publication for people interested in the history and literature of chess.
