Engrossing tale of Nigel Short's battle to beat Gary Kasparov at the 1993 World Chess Championship. All behind-the-scenes, with lots of detail and frank recounting of feelings, words, and actions of both players. Dominic Ralph Campden Lawson (born 17 December 1956), a close friend to N.Short, is a British authoritative and experienced journalist, and a chess player. In 2014 he was elected president of the English Chess Federation.
In addition, inside the book, there is a 4-page leaflet concerning a simultaneous chess demonstration by N. Short, on January 20, 2003 in Shell Chess Club. The booklet contains a short biography of Short and a table with the names of the 30 players he faced. It is possible that the previous owner of this book was one of them and asked Short to sign the book. (see the last 3 photos).
