Verlag Dr. E. Wildhagen, Hamburg, tome 27, 1972.  First edition. Hardback, 355 games with a chessboard diagram every 5 moves, unpaginated with plate, a Spassky's photo.  Bound in original publisher's red cloth with gilt lettering to spine and cover. Plus, a separate 12-page issue with notes on the games by Spassky. Condition: very good. 44 0 grams.

Spassky's "Red Book" was dedicated to Boris Spassky. This book with red covers became legendary in chess history, as it was the main preparation material studied by Bobby Fischer before the historic 1972 World Championship match.

The famous red series from Wildhagen Publishing. Verlag. Dr. E. Wildhagen was a German publishing house based in Hamburg and Berlin, which published some of the most important and collectible works in chess literature during the 1950s and 1960s. The original printed editions are rare and sought after by collectors.
