Description

Moravian Chess, Olomouc, reprint of the original edition, hardback, spine and upper cover lettered, vol 2: 213+xiii pp, 445 grams, condition: NEW, never read.

Magazine is devoted from one half to the problem chess, another half are games. Published in London, 1851-1853 (alltogether 4 volumes) by Kling and Horwitz.

Josef Kling (19 March 1811 – 1 December 1876), was a German chess master and chess composer. He has been called "a pioneer of the modern style of chess." Although Kling was an expert on endgames and problems, he rarely played competitively.

Kling wrote several studies of the game. He co-edited the problem book Chess Studies (1851) with Bernhard Horwitz. From January 1851 to December 1853, the pair also co-edited the weekly journal The Chess Player, also known as The New Chess Player. As co-authors, they made notable contributions to endgame theory.
