One of the most important publications of the Exzelsior publishing house is the monumental Lasker monograph from 2009, which quickly sold out. Now a new, three-part Lasker biography is being published in English.
This first volume deals with Emanuel Lasker's childhood and school years as well as his family history. It also deals with the mathematical work of the only German chess world champion. His life and work in London and the USA are described by the renowned chess historians Tony Gillam and John Hilbert. Lasker's contribution to problem and study chess is also examined.
Mihail Marin and Raj Tischbierek cover the chess-specific area with extensively commented games. Raj Tischbierek examines Lasker's match against Siegbert Tarrasch for the 1908 World Championship crown.
