Famous magazine founded by Wilhelm Steinitz. The editor was one of the most successful chess players of his time, considered World Chess Champion from 1866 and the first official World Chess Champion from 1886 to 1894. He edited this magazine until its discontinuation. The journal contains articles on various chess topics, news, games, endgames, and problems. Condition: Interior with water damage, somewhat browned, in some places more heavily, a few stains, and some handwritten notes.
Condition volume: Brown half-leather binding with gilt title on spine. Gilted edge on top. With famous collector Lothar Schmid's bookplate.
Volume 1: pp 1-384 including index with some moist damage (See photo no. 2+3). Pages are creased (see scans).
Volume 2: Index has severe moist damage as well as the first few pages. The rest of the volume has varying moist damages (see photo 5-7)
