One of the most important publications of the Exzelsior publishing house is the monumental Lasker monograph from 2009, which quickly sold out. Now a new, three-part Lasker biography is being published in English.

This third volume contains nine chapters.  The book begins with the third part of a "Biographical Compass" written by Richard Forster. It spans over 100 pages from the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 to Lasker's death in 1941. The beginning of the First World War meant a dramatic turning point in Lasker's life. Among other things, he had to stop publishing his chess magazine "Der Schachwart" and could not continue his chess column in the New York Evening Post.

Richard Forster traces Lasker's life in great detail and illustrates it with many contemporary photos, not only of Lasker and his wife in previously unknown shots, but also of many other people Lasker met along the way, chess players, organizers and other personalities. The carefully prepared photos and portraits are also included in large numbers in the other chapters and bring the life of the only German world champion closer to the present. They also paint a picture of the time.
